WW1 Cemeteries - Mesopotamia - Iraq

Cemeteries in Mesopotamia

This section covers cemeteries in what the British Army knew as 'Mesopotamia' - or just 'Mespot' - now modern Iraq.

Due to the political and military situation in Iraq most of these cemeteries are closed. The CWGC advises on their website:

THE COMMISSION STRONGLY ADVISES THAT THE FOREIGN AND COMMONWEALTH OFFICE SHOULD BE CONTACTED BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO VISIT IRAQ. Their details are as follows: Travel Advice Unit Consular Division Foreign and Commonwealth Office Old Admiralty Building London SW1A 2AF Tel: 0207 008 0232/0233 Fax: 0207 008 0164 Website: http://www.fco.gov.uk/ Opening Times: Monday to Friday 09.30 - 16.00

Simply click on the name of the cemetery below for the location you require.

Special thanks to Harry Fecitt for help with this section.
